Salted Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Water
  • 200 g Selati Brown Sugar
  • 160 ml Cream at room temperature
  • 45 g Tbs Unsalted Butter cut into tablespoon-sized pieces
  • 1 tsp pure Vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp Salt or to taste

Method

  1. Heat the water and the sugar in on low heat in a saucepan.
  2. Stir continuously until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Then allow it to boil until the colour deepens to a caramel colour.
  4. Slowly whisk in the cream. The mixture will heat and start to rise up very fast so please do not allow this to splash on your skin.
  5. Once it starts to rise closer to the rim we are almost there. Do not let this over flow.
  6. Remove from the heat and stir in the Butter and Vanilla.
  7. Once cooling, stir in the salt to your preference.
  8. As this continues to cool, the sauce will thicken so no need to stress when still slightly runny.
