Valentines Day Churros
Ingredients
Churros:
- 250 ml Water
- 120 g Butter
- 125 g Flour
- 3 Eggs
- 2 Tbs of Selati White Sugar
- 200 g Selati Brown Sugar
- ¼ tsp of Ground Cinnamon Powder
- Oil, for frying
Method
- Place the water, sugar and butter in a small pot; allow the butter to melt, as soon as the mixture comes to the simmer remove from the heat.
- Add all the flour at one time into the pot-off the heat, using a wooden spoon to bring it all together.
- Place the pot back onto the heat; cook the flour for a minute or two.
- You will see the mixture coming away from the sides of the pot- this is when it is ready.
- Place the mixture into a stainless steel mixing bowl, spread the dough out into the bowl and mix it around to cool down.
- Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well between each egg.
- Place the mixture into a piping bag, fitted with a nozzle.
- If there is time and you would like perfect shapes – Shape your hearts on a baking tray - trick is to finish your shape neatly.
- Using scissors, cut off the dough from the piping bag.
- Fry until golden, turn over and fry the other end.
- Remove churros from the oil with a slotted spoon and roll in cinnamon sugar and place on a cooling rack.
